Asheville Eye Associates Earns $13,700 Practice Wellness Grant
Asheville Eye Associates PLLC was awarded a $13,700 grant from the North Carolina Medical Society Employee Benefit Plan (NCMS Plan) for encouraging wellness and good health practices among its employees.
To qualify for the grant, Asheville Eye pledged to create an environment that supported healthy lifestyles; adopted a tobacco free campus and conducted a biometric screening to enable employees to “know their numbers.” In addition, each employee was encouraged to attend a 30-minute healthy living educational seminar.

(From L to R) Chuck Pittman (Medical Mutual), Dr. Brian E. Smith, Human Resource Physican Vice Chair (Asheville Eye), Brianna Justice, BS, CHES, Wellness Coordinator (Asheville Eye), Jason Horay (NCMS Plan).
Brianna Justus, BS, CHES, Wellness Coordinator for Asheville Eye stated, “As the discussion for creating a wellness program carried on year after year, the Practice Wellness Grant was the extra push needed to put words into action.” She further stated, “Asheville Eye was happy to create extra incentives to make our employees healthier, happier and to educate them on the benefits of being healthy.
Together the NCMS Plan and Asheville Eye look forward to seeing the results of the program along with becoming an example to the Mountain community.
